Immigrant connection

We believe we are called to share the HOPE of Jesus to our international community. Here are some ways we accomplish this…

IMMIGRANT CONNECTION LEADER

Mei Soo (Bee) was born and raised in Singapore and transitioned to live in Canada 10 years ago. Bee oversees the Immigrant Connection Ministry and she has a passion to build relationships with our International friends from abroad. As an immigrant herself, she understands the challenges and adjustments every newcomier has to deal with in a new country. She considers it to be a humbling experience to be given the opportunity to engage in their lives and meet them where they are at.

WHAT IS IMMIGRANT CONNECTION?

It is a resource hub made available to connect and build relationships with Immigrants (permanent residents), Migrant (waiting to receive permanent residency) and International Students (post-secondary education). We come alongside to provide support and information as they seek housing, transportation, healthcare, and employment as they settle into Nova Scotia. This is a wonderful opportunity for Canadians to meet and welcome our new friends from abroad.

Friends from around the world, we welcome you to the Annapolis Valley! Bee would be happy to follow up with you. You can contact her here.

HOW CAN NEW HOPE BE INVOLVED?

PRAYER: Prayer partners and intercessors are invited to pray for God to help us build strong connections with our friends from abroad, and pray for those settling into their new life in Nova Scotia.

CONNECTION: Do you have the gift of hospitality? Do you enjoy meeting others? If so, you may want to consider inviting them into your homes to experience Canadian culture through outdoor BBQ’s, festivities (Canada Day, Thanksgiving, etc.) and exploring the beautiful sites in Nova Scotia (Peggy’s Cove, Halifax Harbour, etc.) You may also want to consider being a ‘Host-Home’ to accommodate students from abroad who choose to study Senior High or English language in preparation and transition to Universities.
